Nathan Carlton

Dr. Nathan Carlton is proud to serve pets and their families as the Lead DVM at Old Town Veterinary Hospital in Georgetown, Texas!

Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Dr. Carlton’s path to veterinary medicine has been one of service and dedication. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served for five years. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California San Diego before attending Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Carlton served four years in the United States Army as a Veterinary Corps Officer.

Stationed at Fort Hood in a deployment-minded unit, he learned to practice mobile veterinary medicine in austere environments. His patients included the Military Working Dogs of Air Force Security Forces, Army Military Police, Army Rangers, Special Forces, and the Marines. While serving as an Army veterinarian, he was also the vet for the horses of the 1st Cavalry Division. He honed his clinical skills caring for these unique animal populations before serving the pets of the Jarrell community, and now brings that broad expertise to the clients of Old Town Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Carlton is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, American Association of Equine Practitioners, Texas Veterinary Medical Association.

In his spare time, Dr. Carlton works with his wife and four children running a small cow-calf operation, welding, and working on old trucks.
